Hi, I'm Nick Teeter!

I got into shrimp keeping fall of 2019. While my wife and I were watching some YouTube one day, a video popped up from Mark’s Shrimp Tanks. So naturally I clicked on it and instantly was fascinated with freshwater shrimp. My wife saw how invested I was in the shrimp and decided to surprise me with Petco’s little 7 gal shrimp starter tank/package as a Christmas present. I had it up and running within a week and sought out some shrimp from a local person off Craigslist. Well unfortunately I didn’t understand the importance of fully cycling a shrimp tank. Nor the importance of having the right GH/KH levels or chemical free water (I used tap water). My first batch of cherries all perished. I dove back into Mark’s videos, other videos, and Google. A few weeks later I had an RO Buddie, minerals, and I was on the right path. A few months later I had 3 shrimp tanks in our spare bedroom with a goal of having them “pay for themselves”. And that is how my shrimp keeping journey started.

Since keeping shrimp, I have won many awards at the Aquashella Shrimp Contests and at the North American International Shrimp Contest. Since winning my first award I wanted to start dedicating more tanks to trying to improve the quality of my shrimp colonies. I now have a detached shrimp room, 36 shrimp tanks, and a small business with the goal to help spread the shrimp keeping hobby. I’m very blessed to have discovered shrimp keeping and even more blessed to have a family that supports it! I have met many good friends through the hobby and hope to meet many more!
